Namaste

Published on: December 13, 2021

Millions of people worldwide practice yoga for centering themselves.  Some people experience calm and others are energized by the flowing movement.  Each person’s yoga practice is different each time they do it.

Mindfulness, meaning having focus and making the most of the present moment, are key benefits of yoga, along with so many other physical benefits such as flexibility, strength, and better posture and circulation.

During their two-day retreat in early December 2021, we wanted to give the African Girls Can girls a chance to experience something new with a yoga session.  They were a bit uncertain at first, but then really warmed up to the activity. Thank you to meeting facilitators Jenny and Phoebe for obtaining the yoga mats and to yoga instructor Farrah Forsyth for sharing her expertise with the girls.

African Girls Can’s Beginner Yoga Session is on YouTube for all to enjoy.  Now that the girls each have their own tablet, they also can take the class again and again outside of school.
